Top 5 Reasons to Move to Wandsworth

Top 5 Reasons to Consider a House Move to Wandsworth

When you have decided that London is the place you want to be when moving home, you still need to decide on an area of London in which to settle down.

You may have considered moving home to areas like Paddington or Mayfair but decided the noise and crowds may not be to your liking. If you are after a somewhat quieter pocket of civilization for your next house move, then you should cast your eye over Wandsworth.

Wandsworth has a lot of going for it, so read on to find out why the area may be the perfect place for you to put down roots.

1. Plenty of Things to Do in Your Local Neighbourhood

Wandsworth oozes culture at every corner: you can enjoy picnics in the park with your kids, settle down to a traditional pub lunch, explore the Battersea Arts Centre, or take in some theatre.

If you want to escape the heat of the day, you can always head to Battersea Park for a play in the fountains. It’s a quiet borough, but there are still plenty of things to see and do which the entire family can enjoy.

2. Great Food and Shopping

Everyone loves to get in a bit of shopping now and then, and it’s a bonus when you don’t have to travel far to indulge your retail therapy. Head across Northcote Road on the weekend, and you will find a fabulous market that is one of London’s favourites.

You will find fresh fruit and vegetables, pizzas, cakes, photographic prints, clothing, jewellery, and just about anything else you could imagine. There are also farmers’ markets close by in Balham and Abbeville Road. More eclectic tastes can be satisfied at Tooting and Broadway markets.

Food lovers are also taken care of in Wandsworth. You probably won’t find the cheapest eats in London, but the variety of cuisines on offer certainly make up for it. The location is home to not one, but two Michelin-starred restaurants for whenever your taste buds are in the mood for something posh.

3. It’s Safe for Families

The recorded crime levels have shown Wandsworth to be one of the safest boroughs in inner London. The crime is lower than areas like North Lincolnshire and Oxford. If you’re considering a house move to London, then you won’t find a more secure area to raise a family than Wandsworth.

4. Wandsworth is Well Connected

Wherever you need to go in London, Wandsworth public transport has you covered. If you need to get to the eastern or northern side of the borough, you can jump on the tube’s Northern or District Lines. If you prefer to travel by bus, then that is also a convenient option, with many even running 24 hours a day. Trains can get you to Gatwick Airport in less than 30-minutes if you jump on at Clapham Junction.

5. It’s Still Affordable

London has a reputation as being an expensive place to live, but despite all that Wandsworth has going for it, the area is still an affordable choice for a house move.

When compared to the rest of London, Wandsworth comes in as a significantly cheaper place to live. The council tax is also the second cheapest for the entire country, so that certainly helps take some of the strain out of the family budget.
